The recipes are solid and the story is enticing. This is truly beautifully balanced book that can be described as either “narrative cookbook” or a “memoir of meals.” I am truly enjoying every aspect of this and cannot wait to get my hands on his other books. Having heard many interviews with Stanley Tucci and watched his tv show on Italy, it is very much in his authentic voice. Just wish they’d included an index to the recipes which are buried throughout the book. Incredible account of his recent cancer treatment - what an ordeal. I've been a fan of Stanley since watching Big Night decades ago. Stanley has always come across as very likeable and savvy, this book confirms it. Tucci is a great natural storyteller and sharp wit, and his passion for food, drink and all of the best things in life and human nature that both engender is authentic and powerful. But I did have to stop twice and eat Philadelphia cream cheese on toast just to be able to finish the book! (Stanley, if you are reading this, do not sell Puglia short.
